National Martini Day
National Martini Day
Chanel your inner 007 this June 19th for National Martini Day. Whether you take it dirty, dry, shaken, stirred, or straight up, there’s no wrong way to enjoy this classic cocktail.
Did you know that the martini was originally called the Martinez after the boomtown where it was invented during the California Gold Rush? First made with wine, gin, and an olive, the recipe has evolved and been refined and revitalized many times since the late 19th century.
The first published recipe for a martini was included in the straightforwardly named Bartender’s Manual in the 1880s. However, it wasn’t until 1951 that the vodka martini made its first appearance in the cocktail recipe book Bottoms Up.
So no matter how you take yours, make sure to ask your bartender or make your own for National Martini Day on June 19th.
