National Onion Ring Day

Don’t miss out on this pub fare favorite for National Onion Ring Day on June 22nd.

While the exact origins of the onion ring are unknown, the earliest known recipe comes from a cookbook called The Art of Cookery Made Easy and Refined by John Mollard dated 1802.

The tasty fried treat was refined over the years, and in the 1920s Kirby’s Pig, a Texas restaurant chain, started serving onion rings as a regular menu item. From there, onion rings finally gained the popularity they deserve in the 1960s when A&W restaurants started offering them on their menu.

Whether you have yours as a side, a snack, or a meal unto themselves, make sure to grab an order or mix up a batch of your own this June 22nd for National Onion Ring Day.
